As a 2-time Fortune 500 CIO, author, consultant, and board member, James Dallas credits his success to bridging the gap between strategy and execution. His leadership has produced 10 CIOs for billion-dollar organizations.

About

James is an accomplished senior executive with extensive experience as an agent of change in large domestic and international corporate settings. With over 30 years’ experience in General Management & business operations roles as well as Chief Information Officer positions, James retired in September 2013 as Senior Vice President of Quality, Operations and IT at Medtronic, Inc. 

Prior to joining Medtronic in 2006, James was Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Georgia-Pacific Corporation, a global forest products company with over 55,000 employees. Over 22 years at Georgia Pacific, James served in many information technology and operating roles, including the executive management team. Much of James’ career has been focused on bridging the gap between strategy and execution, using IT for competitive advantage, and leadership development. 

“Mastering the Challenges of Leading Change: Succeed Where Others Fail” was released in 2015 by Wiley Publishing. James currently serves on the corporate boards of several public and non-profit organizations. He has been named one of the most powerful black men in corporate America and received the GeorgiaCIO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. James is a native of Atlanta, where he and his wife of 34 years, Celest, reside. They have three daughters.
